It’s that time of year again when I grab my camera bags and head up to Bradford for Infest the Electronic/Industrial Festival.
This year I decided to forgo most of the socializing and music and throw myself fully into the photography.
The plan was to shoot each band, rush back to the camper-van, process the images, grab the laptop, take it to the pub and upload the images to Facebook.
The reality was quite similar to this. The organizers expressed a preference for people shots rather than band shots.
I attempted to do both, but I nearly broke in the process. (although i’m sure the many bottles of wine didin’t help in this regard)
I only used three lenses for the whole events. The 70-200 f/2.8, the 85mm f/1.4 and the 24mm f/1.4
I didn’t use flash once. Many of the images benefited from the use of ambient light only, however many others suffered from lack of focus lock or motion blur which would have been eliminated if I’d used and external light source.
I think that if I return next year I need to focus on the event requirement of people and leave the bands to someone else.
I may even try the use of some creative flash, who knows
