Thaipusum 2015 at Batu Caves

We decided to Visit Malaysia for two reasons really. The first, to visit somewhere that felt safe and friendly after my uncomfortable experiences in scambodia, and the second to photograph Thaipusam, the Hindu body piercing festival at Batu caves 18km north of Kuala Lumpur.

Originally I believed that the festival was held over one day on 3rd February 2015, but it transpired that because of the huge number of devotees attending (around 2 million) that the festival was going to be spread over 3 days.

I only discovered this half way through the second day, but at least this meant that I had two opportunities for photography instead of just the one.
